CPD for Class 1 and 2 Licence Agents 2023 - 2024
From 23 March 2023, class 1 and 2 licence agents must complete 4 hours of training on compulsory topics relevant to the class of licence they hold.
The training must be delivered by an approved provider and require the completion of an assessment activity.
Compulsory topics must be delivered in:
- A face-to-face interactive training environment - max 40 attendees
- An interactive webinar – max 25 attendees
If you are unable to attend either of these learning forums, you may complete a minimum of 10 hours of compulsory and elective topics by online module.
The 10 hours must comprise all relevant compulsory topics and topics from the approved list of elective topics.
From 23 March 2023, class 1 licensees-in-charge are required to develop and maintain a training plan for all employed agents under their supervision, inclusive of CPD. You can download the template HERE.
NB: The CPD compulsory topics and approved list of elective topics for Class 1 and 2 licence agents are specified by the NSW Office of Fair Trading. These are non-accredited courses and will not lead to the issuance of AQF certification.
Residential Real Estate Salespeople
Compulsory topics (4 hours)
- Review of relevant changes to Regulations & Legislation
- Importance of Supervision Guidelines
- Privacy, Proof of ID, Cyber-security, fraud prevention, and data collection
- Price disclosures, representations & underquoting
- Contracts for Sale - Terms, Conditions, and responsibilities of agents
Elective topics (6 hours)
Class 1 or 2 holders unable to attend the interactive face-to-face or online forums for compulsory topics may complete a minimum of 10 hours of compulsory and elective topics delivered by online module.
The 10 hours must comprise of all relevant compulsory topics above and topics from the following approved elective topics:
- Authority to bid and exchange contracts - agent responsibilities
- Rental increase and notice requirements in Residential or Commercial Property Management
- Advertising and Marketing – responsibilities under Australian Consumer Law, avoiding misleading or inaccurate representations, reviewing advertised pricing, and other important obligations.
- Conflict resolution and management skills

Residential Property Managers

- Rental bonds - management, communication and accountability

Residential Real Estate Salespeople and Residential Property Managers
If you hold a class 1 or class 2 licence in real estate and their areas of practice are Residential Real Estate Salespeople (RRES) and Residential Property Managers (RPM), you will need to complete:
- a baseline minimum of 4 hours with 3 compulsory CPD topics for the first area of practice, and
- at least 3 compulsory topics from the other area of practice category.
Compulsory CPD topics that are the same for both categories only need to be completed once, and completion will count towards their compulsory topics for both areas of practice.
For example, an agent completes the compulsory CPD topic about a supervisor’s obligations. The topic is applicable to both licence categories – residential real estate sales and residential property managers. The agent only needs to complete the topic once and it is counted towards the compulsory hours for both licence categories.

- Review of relevant changes to Regulations & Legislation (RRES & RPM)
- Importance of Supervision Guidelines (RRES & RPM)
- Privacy, Proof of ID, Cyber-security, fraud prevention, and data collection (RRES & RPM)
